The Christmas Stars Scholarship Fund Helps Students Grow Talents

As we prepare for the birth of Jesus this Advent season, I have been taking time to reflect on the gifts so many generous families have shared to keep the spirit of Christmas alive throughout the year. One of the Catholic Foundation’s oldest funds shares the love of Jesus with our young people, inspiring them to grow their God-given talents in the Christmas season and beyond.

Established in 2001, the Christmas Stars Scholarship Fund supports the fine arts programs of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System through scholarships to students in grades 1-12 to attend a camp, workshops, lessons or courses that will assist them in developing their skills in music, drama, dance or art. The scholarship funds can also be used to pay fees such as orchestra or band participation fees.

Christmas Stars, a spectacular, Broadway-style holiday revue, is created and directed by Jim Romenesko, the theatre manager and mainstage director for the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System. As Romenesko works with students in this and other productions, he sees how the love of Christ is shared all year long thanks to the generosity of others.

“God has blessed so many young people with incredible talent,” Romenesko said. “However, many lack the resources to pursue the training they deserve. Thanks to this scholarship, many students are able to let their light shine onstage. On behalf of all those who have been served, thank you.”

Christmas Stars plays Dec. 5-14 at the Xavier Fine Arts Center in Appleton. Find more information at www.christmasstars.org today.

Thanks to those who left a legacy to support fine arts programs, so many students have been able to share Jesus through song, dance and more. What a beautiful reminder to keep the joy of our Savior’s birth alive in our hearts all year long!

To all those who have left or are considering leaving a legacy to support the future of the Church, thank you for your generosity. May God bless you this Advent and Christmas season.
