A Legacy of Love and Service at Fr. Carr’s Place 2B

At Fr. Carr’s Place 2B, the mission is clear: no one should face hunger or hardship alone. To ensure this vital ministry continues. Fr. Carr’s Place 2B established the Fr. Carr’s Place 2B Fund with the Catholic Foundation.

Founded by Fr. Martin Carr in 1974, the same year he was ordained, Fr. Carr’s Place 2B began as a simple hangout for teens. Over time, it transformed into a life-enrichment center serving those most in need. Today, more than one million souls have been touched by its mission of compassion, rooted in the Gospel of Matthew: “Feed the hungry, care for the sick, and welcome the stranger.”

With the help of dedicated volunteers, Fr. Carr’s Place 2B provides housing, food, healthcare, and educational programming for people in Winnebago County and five surrounding counties. Mass is offered daily in the chapel inside the Mother Teresa Center, along with opportunities for confession and praying the rosary. This is a reminder for all who enter that spiritual nourishment is as vital as physical care.

Meeting Needs, Changing Lives

To feed the hungry, the organization runs a food pantry serving about 250 people every Friday. Guests are invited to arrive early for breakfast and fellowship. During the week, the “Our Daily Bread” program ensures no one goes without a meal. For those who are sick, the St. Francis Community Free Walk-in Clinic provides general and specialized medical care for the uninsured and underinsured at no cost.

For those seeking stability, Bethlehem Inn offers transitional housing, helping residents achieve financial independence and spiritual renewal.

The biggest factor in this success? Volunteers. With only two paid staff members, 30 to 40 volunteers show up daily to make this mission possible. Their generosity reflects the heart of Fr. Carr’s original vision: “We are not here to judge, but to serve.”

Planning for a Brighter Future

Fr. Carr’s Place 2B has always been about meeting immediate needs: feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and welcoming the strangers. But the organization also understands the importance of planning for tomorrow. That’s why it established the Fr. Carr’s Place 2B Fund with the Catholic Foundation.

This fund was created to provide ongoing support for the organization’s operations, ensuring that its mission of hope and service continues. By partnering with the Catholic Foundation, Fr. Carr’s Place 2B has taken a bold step toward sustainability, creating a foundation for stability even in times of uncertainty.

Josh Diedrich, Executive Director of the Catholic Foundation, sees how this fund is transforming lives and is sharing Jesus throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

“When an organization like Fr. Carr’s Place 2B creates a fund with the Catholic Foundation, it’s making a statement of faith for the future. It says, ‘We believe this mission matters not just today, but also for decades to come.’ That kind of foresight ensures the good work happening now will continue to bless lives for years ahead.”

Through this fund, families have the opportunity to be part of something lasting through their generosity: a legacy of love that will keep the doors open, the pantry stocked, and the clinic running for all who need it most.
