For over 50 years, the Diocese of Green Bay has provided financial support and priests to staff two parishes in the Dominican Republic, St. Teresa Parish in Elías Piña and St. Isidore Parish in El Llano. They are currently served by Fr. Mike Seis, who ministers to approximately 90,000 people in his two parishes and approximately 1,350 students in Catholic schools. Fr. Mike’s key needs are for the nursing/medical supplies for the Catholic nursing school as well as monetary donation to build a grade school and 12 additional rooms to the high school.
Sr. Maria Marciano previously worked as a missionary for 23 years in the Dominican Republic and now focuses her work across the border in Haiti. She works to construct roads, provide fresh water, teaches agriculture, and reforestation. Her work provides, clean water, life-sustaining food sources, health, wellness, education, flood and erosion prevention, and impacts 160,000 lives in Haiti. Sr. Maria’s key projects are to build 15 more community centers to be used for medical and dental clinics, teaching adult literacy and community meetings.
