Grant Helps Camp Leaders

The Catholic Foundation was pleased to support Leader Quest, a program designed to provide teens with growth in personal leadership, team leadership and camp leadership through unique camp experiences and offsite activities. The skills they develop make them more capable leaders as individuals, as part of a team, and as a member of their own community. The grant money received was used for programming and specialized staff costs to provide this opportunity and meet the needs of this program. “Without the incredibly generous donations from the Catholic Foundation, Camp Tekakwitha’s high school Leader Quest campers would be unable to take part in the exhilarating activities intended to develop life-long leadership skills centered in prayer, teamwork and self-confidence,” said Chris Refsguard, Associate Director at Camp Tekakwitha.

For over 90 years Camp Tekakwitha has been filled with opportunities to create deeper bonds with God and committed to faith, friends and fun! Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, Capture the Flag, archery, swimming, running, fort building, night hikes, tag, soccer, kickball, tennis, campfires, s’mores, songs, stories and prayer. That is just one day at camp. Campers also experience morning praise, daily prayer, Day is Done, living Stations of the Cross, Adoration, Mass and personal reflection. Located on Loon Lake in Shawano, this camp is a sanctuary and holy space where God’s presence can be more easily sensed.  This beautiful place provides a transformational faith experience. Kids come here to experience God in nature, to make new friends; and at the end of each week, a new community has been built. What an amazing experience!  For more information about the Catholic Foundation, contact Cindi Brawner or Josh Diedrich at 920-272-8181 or [email protected]
