World Mission Sunday, organized by the Propagation of Faith, is a day
set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit themselves to the Church’s missionary activity through prayer and sacrifice. It is held the second to last Sunday every October.
Offerings collected are placed in a central fund of solidarity, to be shared among missions across the globe. Every year the needs of the Catholic Church in the Missions grow. New dioceses are formed, new seminaries are opened, areas devastated by war or natural disaster are rebuilt, and areas long-suppressed are opened to hear the message of Christ and His Church. Involvement and commitment of Catholics from around the world is urgently needed.
