Bishop's Appeal 2012 Launches in Parishes
“Imagine being able to help a family heal from the loss of a child or help our young people realize that Jesus walks with them and loves them. These are just two ways your gift to the Bishop’s Appeal makes a difference.” said Most Reverend David Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay. Beginning the weekend of February 4-5, the Bishop's Appeal 2012 will launch in parishes across the Diocese. This important campaign supports the ministries and services of the Diocese of Green Bay such as Catholic Charities, the diocesan Education Department, Stewardship and Pastoral Services and other ministries that bring the Word of God to the people of Northeastern Wisconsin.

A Life Without Worry -- Enjoy the Benefits of Life Income
In a world that offers an uncertain tomorrow, people search for certainty today. They want dependability. They seek to remove worry and add predictability to their lives. Many of them find what they look for in a charitable gift annuity. It offers certainty in an uncertain world.
A gift annuity gives you the security of knowing you will receive fixed payments for life. When you fund a charitable gift annuity, our organization agrees to pay you a fixed payment each year for as long as you live. You cannot outlive a gift annuity’s
dependable payments.
Reliable payments are only the beginning. You will receive an income tax deduction this year for part of the funding amount. There are also capital gains benefits if you fund your gift annuity by transferring an appreciated asset, such as stock. Finally, after a lifetime of payments to you, the remaining funds can go to support your parish, Catholic school, ministry or other
Catholic organization.
Call us and we can give you the details on funding your own charitable gift annuity. Ask about a gift annuity that makes payments for two people or a gift annuity that offers a little higher rate if you wait a few years for the first payment. With all these options and a lifetime of benefits, the only worry you’ll have is deciding what type of gift annuity works best for you.

Catholics asked to help 23 future priests through the Seminarian Collection
GREEN BAY, Wis. (Aug. 2, 2011) – As the number of seminarians continues to grow in the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, the annual Seminarian Collection grows in importance. This year, two men have been ordained as priests, and two more are projected for ordination in the coming year. Including the two men projected for ordination this year, there are currently 23 seminarians in the Diocese of Green Bay.
“Each year it costs roughly $35,000 to support one candidate
for the priesthood. Multiply that 23 times and that is $805,000,” said Bishop David Ricken.
The Seminarian Collection, administered through the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Green Bay, offsets the costs of tuition, room and board, health insurance, summer language, and spiritual and pastoral programs, a small stipend, and other costs. To help meet this need, each parish in the Diocese’s 16-county area has been asked to dedicate a weekend between Aug. 6 and 28 to the Seminarian Collection.
“The faith journey recently-ordained priests Fr. Luke and Fr. Bill have taken would not have been possible without parishioners’ prayers and support of the Seminarian Collection,” said Bishop Ricken.
The web site, www.gbvocations.org contains biographical information about most seminarians and links to other Seminarian Collection materials. To support our Seminarians, please make a gift today.
Catholic Foundation helps support the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help
The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help sits quietly in NortheasternWisconsin, surrounded by dairy farms
and rolling cornfields. Seemingly untouched by our modern world, for over 150 years it has been a place where the faithful have come to seek intercession from the Blessed Virgin Mother. The Catholic Foundation assists the Shrine by doing an annual fundraising campaign, encouraging people to establish endowments that benefit the Shrine and by helping people leave a legacy by remembering the Shrine in their wills and estates.
If you would like more information on how you may leave a legacy to support the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, your parish or other ministries and programs in the Diocese of Green Bay, please contact Cindi Brawner at 920-272-8173 or Josh Diedrich at 920-272-8197.
